We’re Different
How We Are Different
Because we use the spiritual approach, we have a very high rate of success. Read about some of our Success Stories and see the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the lives of former addicts.
Secular Approach |
Biblical Approach |
|---|---|
| Addiction is a disease. | Addiction is a sin. |
| Cause: May be a chemical imbalance, personality disorder, environmental, etc. |
Cause: Is man’s bondage to sin. |
| Treatment: Medical and psychological treatment, mental health clinics, 12 Step programs, medication, behavioral modification. |
Training: Discovering one’s relationship to Christ, discipleship, identification with a local church, learning how to live a Christ-centerd life. |
| Goal: Sobriety at any cost. |
Goal: A life that glorifies God and fulfills the purpose for which that person was created. |
| Result: Bondage in other forms, God as a “helper” rather than Savior. |
Result: Liberty in Christ, and a release from bondage. |
Most treatment programs involve minimal emphasis on personal accountability and moral choice in the active addict. There is a tremendous emphasis on reliance in a nebulous “Higher Power”, who it is believed, will aid the “recovering” individual in remaining “clean and sober.” This approach removes all responsibility from the addict for his or her choices and relegates God to a position as an “assistant.”
Through practical experience in our own lives, and watching the transformation occur in hundreds of others, we have come to know that Jesus Christ is the only Higher Power, and in naming Him addicts can transcend “recovery,” and instead embrace “transformation,” moving beyond recovery!
