The Face of Addiction

THE FACE OF ADDICTION
As Christians we know that Satan is real and his purpose is to steal, kill and destroy.  His face can be seen in addiction.
Deception … stealing … broken homes … depression … suicide … HIV … hepatitis … poverty … homeless men, women, and children … pornography … prostitution … unplanned pregnancy … hit and run … molestation … rape … robbery … murder … prison … death.
You can ignore it, you can pretend it has nothing to do with you, but the truth is that somehow, in some way you are affected by addiction.  The question is, what are you going to do about it?
Over the years, after counseling hundreds of people, the one thing that haunts me is that all of this could have been prevented.  All of the pain, all of the despair, all of the lost years.
It doesn’t have to be this way.  None of it had to happen, if only…
As Christians, we have to remember that Jesus came with a purpose too.  He came that we might have life, and life more abundantly.
When we all pull together there can be hope where there is only despair.  This problem will not go away, unless we as Christians roll up our sleeves and get busy.  Good intentions are not enough.
You can make a difference, right here in the Upstate.  We often think of missions as being something that happens in a distant land.  The Upstate is our mission field.  Preventing youth from ever falling into the snare of addiction is our calling.  Helping those trapped by substance abuse is what we do.
Will you help us prevent this devastating epidemic that is killing our children and destroying our homes?  Join our team.  Will you pray for us regularly?  Will you make a regular monthly donation?
